What does Nutricost ZMA do?
This is our Nutricost ZMA review, a ZMA which has been claimed to promote:
- Testosterone
- Muscle Mass
- Recovery
But how well will it work for you?
In this review, we look closer at this supplement to see how effective it really is.
This is what we’ve found:
What you need to know about the Nutricost ZMA ingredients:
It’s a classic ZMA – lots of Zinc and Magnesium.
There’s nothing wrong with this if you’re just looking for general support. However, if you want to effectively raise your testosterone levels, we strongly suggest you look for a product with more ingredients.
Zinc and Magnesium may not be enough to effectively raise your testosterone levels. More study backed options may be needed.
Below, we’ve written up the main ingredients in this supplement, followed by our summary and suggestions on how it could be improved.
This is what you need to know:
Vitamin B6
This is a nice supporting nutrient in Nutricost ZMA. Vitamin B6 is an essential vitamin to your diet.
Will it help with testosterone or muscle growth? Not particularly, but it can still help when it comes to general health.
This vitamin has been seen to promote energy, metabolism, and your immune system. It works best if you have a deficiency in it (which is unlikely), but if you don’t it won’t do you any harm.
B6 is a good support in this ZMA, and can help with general health.
Magnesium
This is a much more effective option in Nutricost ZMA.
Magnesium is a mineral which is closely linked to improving testosterone levels.
How? By how it affects SHBG. SHBG is a protein in your blood stream also known as Sex Hormone Binding Globulin. It binds to your free flowing testosterone and strips it of any anabolic potency. This essentially makes it useless.
Magnesium helps to solve this problem by binding with the protein instead, taking the place of your testosterone.
This allows for more testosterone to flow through your blood unaffected. It’s a great ingredient in this supplement.
Zinc
This is a mineral which is also good for testosterone in Nutricost ZMA.
Of course Zinc is going to be in this product, it is after all a ZMA. However, Zinc is great for testosterone production.
So, how does it work?
Once absorbed, this mineral is used for numerous chemical reactions in your brain. These reactions help to create LH (the Luteinizing Hormone).
LH is your body’s precursor to both growth hormone and testosterone. The more LH you have, the more support your T has to rise.
It’s another effective option, but not necessarily enough for full testosterone boosting benefit.
Nutrient Profile Overview:
On the whole, Nutricost ZMA is an effective ZMA supplement, but you’ll need a lot more if you want to effectively boost testosterone.
Zinc and Magnesium are good options for T, but they need support from more ingredients to achieve an effective rise in testosterone.
A natural testosterone booster would be a better idea. It contains more varied ingredients which can help to support T growth in numerous ways.
Why a T-Booster is better than a ZMA for Testosterone:
A good T-Booster contains ingredients like Vitamin D3, D-Aspartic Acid, Fenugreek, Red Ginseng and Oyster Extract which can all help raise testosterone.
Vitmain D3 is technically a hormone, making it very effective. It has many links to improving both your testosterone and bone health. Most people don’t get enough of it throughout the day as it is absorbed via the sun’s rays. If you work indoors, or in a cloudy country, you may not be getting the full benefit, and D3 could help.
D-Aspartic Acid is a nutrient that works in a similar way to Zinc. It can be used by your brain to help promote your body’s levels of the Luteinizing Hormone. This can help improve your levels of both growth hormone and testosterone.
Fenugreek can help with both your libido and sex drive. It regulates your blood sugar which gives you more control over your insulin levels.
Why does this matter? Because insulin can lower your testosterone levels. The more of it you have, the lower your T levels, this is due to a hormone balancing process in your body known as homeostasis. By keeping your insulin under control, you can help keep your testosterone levels high.
There are lots of other ingredients that T-boosters have that can help raise your testosterone.

Nutricost ZMA Side Effects – Are there any?
It’s very unlikely. The ingredients here are all natural and haven’t been linked to causing problems.
Zinc could pose an issue if dosed highly, but here it looks within a safe range.
You shouldn’t run into any side effects.
If you’re still concerned, we suggest you speak to your doctor before using this ZMA.
How effectively balanced are the servings in Nutricost ZMA?
There’s only one serving a day, so it could be better.
With one serving a day, you’re only getting a few hours of benefit at a time.
For the best results you want a constant supply of the nutrients your testosterone needs throughout the day. Ideally, you want a supplement that has 3 – 4 servings over a 24 hour period.
It’s a shame that this product isn’t set up to work like this.

Nutricost ZMA Review Summary – Is it effective?
Overall, this is a fine ZMA, but not a great testosterone booster.
From our Nutricost ZMA review, this is what you need to know:
- Missing Core Nutrients – Not enough study-backed ingredients in here for effective T-Boosting.
- Servings Need Improving – One a day may not be enough for effective testosterone boosting.
