Intro: What does this supplement do?
This is our review of Sleep by Wellthy. Due to the amount of times we’re going to be using the word ‘sleep’ in this review, we’re just going to refer to it as Wellthy Sleep from here on in.
It’s a sleep supplement (see what we mean?) that has claims to promote:
- Rest
- Fat Loss
- Digestion
- Appetite Suppression
But how well will it work for you?
In our review, we’ll be looking closer at the ingredients, safety and servings in this supplement to see how effective it really is.
This is what we’ve found:
Ingredients: What’s in Wellthy Sleep?
There’s a good combination of both sleep-inducing and fat-burning ingredients in this supplement.
However, we have to say that there’s a huge difference in effectiveness between the sleep ingredients and the fat burners.
A lot of the ingredients for promoting rest appear to work well in here, however the fat burning ones could definitely do with some improvements.
Below, we look closer at the ingredients in this supplement along with our summary and suggestions on how to improve it.
Here’s everything we have to tell you about them:
Magnesium – Sleep Promoter
This is a good start to Wellthy Sleep when it comes to promoting your overall quality of sleep throughout the night.
Not only is magnesium an essential mineral to how your body runs itself, supplementing it can also help to reduce aggressive electric impulses across your muscles.
In short? It means that supplementing magnesium can help to reduce your overall twitches in the night. The benefit of this is that you’ll have less disturbances throughout the night which will allow you to sleep more soundly for longer.
L-Theanine & GABA – Sleep / Mood Promoter
We’ve put L-Theanine and GABA together here as L-Theanine is an amino acid that promotes GABA after you absorb it.
GABA is another ingredient in this supplement from Wellthy which will help more with your sleep rather than fat loss.
Although it doesn’t help directly with sleep, it is still an excellent support. GABA is a natural hormone which helps promote calmness and relaxation in your body.
By making you calmer and more relaxed, this puts you in the right mindset to make you more suggestible to sleep.
It will help a lot in this supplement.
Raspberry Ketone – Fat Burner
This isn’t a nutrient that helps with rest in Wellthy Sleep, it’s more of a fat loss aid. Unfortunately, however, it isn’t a very good one.
A lot of supplement manufacturers claim that Raspberry Ketones are a great choice for fat loss. The studies behind it tell a different story.
There are no human studies out there to show that Raspberry Ketone can help burn fat when supplemented in isolation. The only studies that show it to have any benefit was in rat studies, it’s unlikely to work for you here.
Psyllium Husk – Appetite Suppressant / Digestive Aid
This is a much better option in Wellthy Sleep. Psyllium Husk is a fibrous complex that can help reduce your appetite throughout the day to help keep your calorie intake low.
After you consume it, the nutrient swells in your stomach which allows you to feel fuller for longer.
Not only that, Psyllium is a great digestive aid and can help make you more regular throughout the day.
Ashwagandha – Sleep / Mood Promoter
Again, like GABA, this is not a direct sleep promoter in this supplement from Wellthy.
So, what does Ashwagandha do?
It’s a herb that can help reduce and regulate your overall levels of cortisol. Cortisol is your body’s stress hormone. The more of it you have in your system, the more stressed and unfocused you are throughout the day.
By reducing your overall levels of cortisol, it’s easier for you to focus more but also helps you to feel more relaxed and less stressed. The advantage of this is that it is easier for you to get to sleep.
5-HTP & L-Tryptophan – Sleep Promoter
We’ve grouped these two ingredients together as L-Tryptophan converts into 5-HTP after it has been absorbed.
So, how do they help in Wellthy Sleep?
After your body as has absorbed 5-HTP, it is converted into serotonin, which is your body’s feel-good hormone. This can help to boost your mood.
Shortly after, this serotonin is converted into natural melatonin – which is your body’s sleep regulating hormone. The more natural melatonin you have in your system, the more support your body has to fall into a peaceful sleep.
Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) – Fat Burner
This is an ingredient that it mainly known as CLA, and is commonly promoted as a stimulant-free fat burner.
We can definitely see the thinking by Wellthy here as it may help you to burn fat without keeping you awake.
However, the studies just aren’t the side of this nutrient.
Studies show that CLA can help influence receptors in your brain to stimulate fat loss. However, the research also showed that the influence was not strong enough to have a noticeable impact. It’s unlikely that you would see any results from supplementing CLA for fat loss.
Chamomile – Sleep Promoter
This is a better ingredient in Wellthy Sleep and is another ingredient which helps with the nighttime aspect of this supplement.
You commonly find Chamomile used in ‘sleepy time’ teas, and with good reason, it’s full of Apigenin.
Apigenin is a bioflavonoid which is great for reducing anxiety and promoting sedation.
It’s safe and effective ingredient for helping you get into a healthy sleep.
Cape Aloe Leaf – Digestive Aid
This ingredient doesn’t help with rest or fat loss in Wellthy Sleep, however it could help you with some general support.
Cape Aloe can work well as a digestive aid. In doing so it can help you digest and absorb the ingredients in this supplement in a faster, more effective rate.
It can help you get more benefit of the ingredients already in here.
Melatonin – Sleep Promoter
This is a great addition to Wellthy Sleep, but we do have some concerns.
Don’t get us wrong, it’s an excellent addition. Melatonin is the hormone your body uses to promote sleep – it’s exactly what you want.
However, there’s no clear way to know if you’re getting the real thing or not. A lot of sleep supplements on the market tend to use artificial melatonin which has been manufactured in a lab.
Although it gives you the benefit of the hormone, it’s not as effective as the real thing that you would find in something like tart cherries.
We hope what Wellthy is using is all natural.
Nutrient Profile Overview:
This is a supplement that’s main goal is to help you burn fat while your sleep. However, we think Wellthy Sleep has spread itself too thin to accomplish this is both areas.
There’s a lot in here that can help with sleep, but very little that can help with fat loss.
For sleeping, the following are good options in this supplement:
- Magnesium
- L-Theanine / GABA
- Ashwagandha
- L-Tryptophan / 5-HTP
- Chamomile
- Melatonin
Although we do have some reservations about the Melatonin here as we’re unsure if it is natural. Something like Tart Cherries may be a better choice there.
That aside, the fat burning ingredients here are much worse, it’s really only the Psyllium Husk that will make much of a difference here. The rest don’t have the studies to support them.
So what would help fat loss in Wellthy Sleep?
There are plenty of stimulant-free fat burners that could help like Cayenne Pepper, decaffeinated Green Tea and decaffeinated Green Coffee Bean.
Let’s take a closer look at these options:
Cayenne Pepper – Thermogenic
This would be a great option for this fat burner to use. Cayenne Pepper is a hot chili which contains a component known as Capsaicin – which is what gives the herb its heat.
The heat can help raise your body’s core temperature which starts a cool down process in your system. This cooling uses more energy than your body does normally, and in turn burns more stored fat. Not only that, studies show that Capsaicin can also help promote appetite suppression.
Decaffeinated Green Tea
In our opinion this would be the best ingredient for Wellthy Sleep. Green Tea contains a form of antioxidant known as catechins. These catechins help to promote your overall levels of the fat burning hormone norepinephrine.
The more norepinephrine you have in your system, the more fat you’ll burn throughout the day. It also contains L-Theanine which can help with GABA and overall relaxation which supports sleep.
Decaffeinated Green Coffee Bean
Green Coffee Bean would be another good fat burner to support this supplement.
We say that because it contains Chlorogenic Acid. Chlorogenic acid helps to reduce your levels of glucose in your liver. Your body uses this glucose for energy, without it, your body has to use other resources to keep you going – namely your stored fat.
It’s a good addition to help you burn more fat throughout the day.
Safety Checks: Are there any side effects in Wellthy Sleep?
In our opinion, we think Wellthy Sleep is a safe bet.
There’s nothing in here that we can see as something that would cause you any harm. However, we cannot speak for everyone as every person is different.
If you’re unsure, have any concerns or pre-existing conditions you should speak to your doctor before using it.
Instructions: How balanced are the servings in here?
As it’s a nighttime supplement, there’s not much we can criticize here. It’s one serving a day, just before bed – which is exactly what a sleep supplement should be.
The only thing we will say is that this angle sacrifices the fat burning benefits of this supplement even more.
Why?
Because the effects only last for a few hours – which isn’t enough to give you day-long benefits. This matters more fat loss because you want to stay in fat burning mode for as long as possible.
It’s clear that the fat burning angle has suffered a lot in this supplement.
Is this the Best Sleep Supplement?

Review Summary: How effective is Wellthy Sleep?
For sleep, we think this is a passable supplement, however, for fat loss it could be a lot better.
There’s a lot of ineffective ingredients in this supplement when it comes to fat loss. This should not be the reason you buy this supplement.
From our review of Wellthy Sleep, this is what you need to know:
- Missing Core Nutrients – More ingredients could be added to this supplement to help promote fat loss.
- Some Ineffective Ingredients – Not all nutrients help with fat loss.
- Good Sleep Supplement, Bad Fat Burner – The sleep promoting ingredients in this supplement are far better than the fat loss ones.
Muxcle’s Verdict:
As you can see, this isn’t the best supplement that we would suggest adding to your stack if you’re looking for both fat loss and sleep promotion.
We have to admit it’s really lacking as a fat burner, but it could work as a sleep supplement. Check out our suggestions below to see what our editor recommends as better options for similar goals:
Suggestion: What’s a Good Stack for both Sleep and Fat Loss?
At the moment we think there are two supplements that you could stack to help you with both sleep and fat burning.
Sleep from Performance Lab is currently our top rated sleep supplement. Whereas LeanBean is our current #1 Non-Stimulant fat burner. Together they would work well for achieving effective results in both these areas.
