Intro: What is this supplement claimed to do?
This is our review of BURN which is a fat burner from Inferno Nutrition. It has claims to promote:
- Energy
- Fat Loss
- Appetite Suppression
- Focus
But how well will it work for you?
In this review, we look closer at the ingredients, safety and servings to see how effective it is.
Here’s what we have found:
Ingredients: What is in BURN?
A lot, and there’s several proprietary blends in here which makes it all harder to judge.
What is a proprietary blend? It’s when a supplement manufacturer decide to not disclose the dosages of the ingredients in their product.
Instead all the ingredients are grouped together under one larger value. The negative effect of this is that you don’t know how much of each ingredient you’re getting, and it’s unclear if you’re getting a fair dose.
To top it off, BURN does have an ingredient which may cause side effects, but there are others here too which will help fat loss.
Here’s our full summary along with our suggestions on how Inferno Nutrition may improve it:
Caffeine
This is a good start to BURN, and is arguably the best natural stimulant on the market.
It’s hard to not be familiar with caffeine, it’s in almost every food and drink that gives you a quick boost of energy, and that’s largely what it’s doing here in this supplement.
However, it does have other benefits. Caffeine not only helps with energy, but can also help with focus, power output and even metabolism. This makes it a great option to help you work out in the gym, but can also help trim down your waistline. It’s a great choice in this supplement.
Phenylethylamine
This however, is not a good option selected by Inferno Nutrition. Our reason being that it doesn’t look good in studies when it is orally supplemented.
Phenylethylamine is an amino acid which is thought to help promote your overall levels of the feel-good hormones serotonin and dopamine.
However, when orally supplemented, the acid is broken down too quickly by your body for it to get any benefit out of it.
Working off the information from the studies, you’re unlikely to get much benefit from supplementing Phenylethylamine here.
Glucomannan
This is a much better option in Inferno Nutrition’s BURN. Glucomannan is a great fibrous complex that supports appetite suppression.
Why does it work so well?
Because after you consume it, the Glucomannan swells in your stomach and takes up a lot of room. In doing so, this makes you feel fuller than you actually are. The result is that you’re less hungry, and don’t want to snack throughout the day.
This helps keep you on your diet and your calorie input down.
There’s also evidence that supplementing Glucomannan can help to regulate your cholesterol levels.
L-Tyrosine
This isn’t a fat burner in Inferno’s BURN, but it can help in other ways in this supplement.
L-Tyrosine is an amino acid, which is more commonly found in brain boosters like a nootropic. It’s an anti-stressor, which can help to reduce your overall levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
This can help you to feel more focused and calm throughout the day. It can help you to have more concentration during exercise, which is always useful, especially when you’re on a low calorie diet.
Green Tea
This is another good ingredient in BURN. Green Tea is one of the best natural fat burners out there.
It works very well because it contains a specific type of antioxidant known as catechins. Catechins are great for fat loss. They work by increasing the amount of Norepinephrine in your body, which is your fat burning hormone.
The more norepinephrine you have in your system, the more fat you’ll burn throughout the day.
Green Tea also contains a small amount of L-Theanine which is an amino acid which can boost your dopamine, serotonin and dopamine. This can increase relaxation as well as overall focus which can help sharpen your mind for the day ahead.
Raspberry Ketones
This isn’t a great choice in BURN. Raspberry Ketones are overrated and are not a good choice for fat loss.
We have yet to see a study which shows it to promote fat loss in humans when used in isolation. The only times it has been seen to be effective is in rat studies, those benefits have never scaled up.
Do not believe the marketing hype. There is no solid evidence that Raspberry Ketones work for fat loss. No human study confirms the full benefits. It’s not a good option in this supplement.
Yohimbe
This, however, is an ingredient in Inferno Nutrition’s BURN which does have some benefits – but there is a drawback.
The good news is that Yohimbe bark works well as an appetite suppressant, which can help keep your calorie input down and reduce hunger pangs.
However, the bad news is that it has numerous reported side effects. We’ll go into more details about what those are in our ‘Safety Check’ section later on. We wouldn’t recommend using it.
Kola Nut
Not much to discuss here, Kola Nut is more of a support to the Caffeine in BURN. It’s a caffeine-heavy nutrient which can help support the caffeine that is already in this supplement.
As we’ve already mentioned, this can help to promote your overall energy, metabolis, focus and power output which is useful both in and out of the gym.
It’s a nice support, but not essential to this supplement as the caffeine is already in play here.
L-Carnitine
This is an amino acid in BURN that you need a high dosage of to get the most benefit from. That’s a real problem when you consider this supplement is in proprietary blends.
L-Carnitine is good for improving focus, energy and metabolism. However, studies show that you need daily dosages between 500 – 2500mg to get the most benefit.
The L-Carnitine in here is a part of a proprietary blend with a 7mg dosage. It’s very unlikely that you will get the full benefits here.
Overview: Nutrient Profile
There are some good ingredients in this nutrient profile, but obviously it isn’t perfect.
The first problem comes from the proprietary blends. That lack of transparency is a real problem. You can’t know how effective a supplement is if you don’t know the dosages of the ingredients used.
Next, you need to consider the ingredients – without looking at the dosages. From a glance these are the effective options in BURN:
- Caffeine
- Glucomannan
- Green Tea
- L-Carnitine
However, this could go either way if the dosages aren’t there. The weaker options are as follows:
- Phenylethylamine – Breaks down too quickly after absorption.
- Raspberry Ketones – No human studies showing it to help weight loss or fat loss in isolation.
- Yohimbe – May cause side effects.
That side effect issue is a problem too, that we’ll cover after this section.
Notes: How could Inferno Nutrition improve their supplement?
Remove the proprietary blends, and make it clear that the ingredients are well dosed. Also changing the Phenylethylamine, Raspberry Ketones and Yohimbe would be a good idea too. Better choices would be Green Coffee Bean, Cayenne Pepper and Chromium.
Let’s look at why:
Green Coffee Bean – Thermogenic
This would be a good option for extra fat loss. Green Coffee Bean contains chlorogenic acid which helps to reduce the glucose in your liver.
Your body uses this glucose for energy, without it, your body has to burn stored fat to make up the difference.
It’s straight forward and effective.
Cayenne Pepper – Thermogenic & Appetite Suppressant
This can help replace the Yohimbe which suppresses appetite. Cayenne Pepper is a good suggestion for BURN as it contains Capsaicin, which is what gives the chili heat.
It heats up your body’s core temperature which makes your system start a cool-down process. This cooling uses more energy than you would usually use and burns extra calories and stored fat in the process. It’s a quick way to burn more fat.
Not only that, studies link Cayenne Pepper to appetite suppression, so it could help in that regard too.
Chromium – Blood Sugar Regulator
Blood sugar regulator? Yes, and this can help you keep the fat off. Supplementing Chromium can help to manage your blood sugar and insulin levels.
When your insulin levels are higher, it’s easier for your body to store more fat from the food that you eat. By supplementing Chromium to keep your levels under control, you’ll store less fat from the food that you eat and make progress to slim down faster.
Safety Checks: Are there any side effects in BURN?
The Yohimbe is definitely something worth considering as this has many reports of causing side effects.
Generally, the main symptoms that it may cause include:
- Anxiety
- Hypertension
- Gastrointestinal Distress
Which are all things you don’t want when trying to burn fat. There are safer supplements out there.
If you still want to go ahead, we suggest speaking to your doctor before taking it.
Instructions: How are the servings?
There’s only one serving a day, so it could be better.
With one serving, you’re only getting benefits for a few hours. For the best result you want to be in a ‘fat burning state’ for as long as possible.
To stay in that state, you want a fat burner that is broken up into 3 – 4 servings a day. This gives your body a constant supply of the nutrients you need to be in that mode.
BURN would be better if it was dosed to work like this.
Is this the best fat burner?

Review Summary: Is BURN from Inferno Nutrition Effective?
It does have some good ingredients, but with the side effect risks, single servings and proprietary blends – it’s not a great looking supplement.
Improvements could definitely be made.
Below are our main concerns with BURN:
- Proprietary Blend – You don’t know how much of each ingredient you’re getting in here.
- Potential Side Effects – Yohimbe has links to causing issues.
- Missing Core Nutrients – More study supported ingredients would help this supplement.
- Servings Could Be Higher – One a day may not be enough for effective fat loss.
Muxcle’s Verdict:
As you can see, this isn’t a supplement that we would suggest adding to your stack. There are too many issues with it as of yet.
